Prayer is the most powerful weapon in a Christian’s arsenal. At Maranatha Bible Church we believe that prayer equals power. In 1Thessalonians 5:17 we are exhorted to “Pray without ceasing”. That means having a continual conversation with God. We know that prayer changes things. The only way to change our society for the better is through prayer. God made this promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”..
Because prayer produces healing, we provide many opportunities for corporate prayer as well as the opportunity for members and non-members to request prayer. Maranatha offers 15 & 30 minute prayer watches as well as a 1 hour intercessory prayer ministry. Members who sign up for these ministries pray for the designated time each day or week over requests submitted. Each year we also conduct a 14-Hour Prayer Watch where the church is open and members sign up to come to the church and pray for 1 hour over the concerns of the congregation and intercede for our city, nation, world, and leaders.
Every year Maranatha members participate in 40 days of fasting and prayer beginning on Ash Wednesday and culminating on Palm Sunday. This is a special time set aside to ask God to break strongholds, for spiritual renewal and revival.
Prayer is a fundamental principle upon which Maranatha is founded.
